Michael performs on both classical and jazz guitars and has developed a unique style combining classical, jazz and flamenco performance techniques and idioms. The result is a sonorous and captivating blend of styles, reinterpreting old and new.
His performances embrace a wide range of genres including jazz standards, bossa novas, pieces from the classical guitar repertoire and popular classics. His instrumental and vocal renditions of classic jazz and Latin ballads leave a lasting impression.
Michael also explores new sound worlds in what he calls ‘spontaneous composition’ – the act of improvising and developing themes to create musical forms at the moment, giving birth to new and unique performance pieces. His recital manner is relaxed and informal and includes illuminating explanations of the creative process in improvisation.
